Mother’s Day is a time to celebrate the incredible strength and love that mothers bring into our lives. It’s a day to show our respect and gratitude for all the efforts they put out to raise and support their families.
We believe that this day can serve as a poignant reminder of the particular difficulties faced by single mothers in our community. Each year, we take the opportunity to honor the mothers of our community with a special celebration. In an effort to spread joy and show support to these remarkable women, we have initiated a heartwarming Mother’s Day project. Our aim is to provide gift bags filled with love, gratitude, and small tokens of appreciation. This project not only celebrates the spirit of motherhood but also highlights the strength and resilience of single women in Guatemala.
Eagle’s Nest Mother’s Day Project Empowering Single Mothers
At Eagle’s Nest, we value the strength of community and of standing by people who are struggling. We would like to acknowledge that single women frequently handle the responsibilities of their families while juggling the challenges of parenting alone. Our Mother’s Day project aims at giving back to these incredible women and show them our admiration and support. We are happy and proud that about 100 women showed up this year to join the celebration and receive their gift bag.
Supporting Women to Overcome the Legacy of the Civil War
Guatemala is still recovering from its Civil War, which lasted from 1960 to 1996, and left deep scars on the nation and its people. The conflict resulted in widespread human rights violations, forced displacements, and the loss of countless lives. The war left countless families shattered and communities torn apart, leaving women as the pillars of strength to rebuild amidst the ruins.
Initiating a project with the goal of empowering and elevating these outstanding people, the Eagle’s Nest Mother’s Day Project was launched after realizing the special difficulties experienced by women devastated by the civil conflict. Our Mother’s Day project provides a venue to celebrate their fortitude and strength while also offering practical assistance to aid them in their daily lives.
Gift Baskets Filled with Love
Our committed team of volunteers put a lot of love and dedication into creating lovely and heartfelt gift baskets for the single mothers in our neighborhood. These baskets were more than just a collection of things; they had been lovingly and thoughtfully made. Each gift basket included basic cooking ingredients and other necessities for their day-to-day life. Our intention was to not only bring joy and practical assistance but also to remind these mothers that they are seen and appreciated by their community.

Our Mother’s Day effort received an incredibly touching response. Single mothers expressed their sincere gratitude for the help and acknowledgement they have received.
